This Transform Finance webinar is our first that focuses on an important part of the Shared Ownership economy: community-owned real estate.
Community-owned real estate models are development projects that feature a strong aspect of community governance and/or equity ownership. Models are seen in housing (e.g. CLTs, Limited Equity Cooperatives, Mixed Income Neighborhood Trusts), land (e.g. land back & rematriation), and commercial real estate (e.g. Community Investment Trusts, community-owned corridors). These projects have transformative potential for communities across a variety of goals, including anti-displacement, wealth building, and power building.
In this webinar, we'll hear from Devin Culbertson of Grounded Solutions Network, Paul Bradley of Integrity Community Solutions, and Fernando Abarca of Right to the City Alliance, who each represent funds specifically designed to steer capital towards these models. Using their three funds as examples, we will explore different community-owned real estate models, their capitalization needs, and the key factors that led to three very different fund approaches.
